GARS was founded by two of Victoria’s leading specialist veterinary surgeons, Dr Ricky Cashmore and Dr Adrian Wallace. Driven by their shared vision, they established a state-of-the-art veterinary referral hospital to provide all pets with access to advanced diagnostic services and specialist treatment. The hospital
GARS is a privately owned, state-of-the-art facility located in Newtown, Geelong, designed to become Victoria’s leading veterinary referral hospital. Nestled in a scenic greenspace near the Barwon River, the hospital offers beautiful views of Balyang Sanctuary and the Balyang Golf Course. A thoughtfully designed outdoor area in front of the hospital provides a convenient space for patients to exercise and toilet, as well as a welcoming environment for owners to visit their pets.
The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy services, all available on-site. Our team of highly skilled veterinary imaging specialists, surgeons, medics and criticalists are dedicated to delivering exceptional clinical care.

Our aim
At GARS, we are committed to providing the highest standard of specialist care to pets in Victoria’s South West, whilst offering clinical support and advice to referring veterinarians across the state. Collaboration with referring practices is central to our approach, as we believe strong collegial relationships are key to achieving the best outcomes for our patients.
Ricky and Adrian have established strong connections with referring practices throughout the state by sharing their specialist surgical expertise through their mobile service, Melbourne Animal Referral Services (MARS).
Our goal is to deliver comprehensive, individualised care to every patient, including those with complex medical conditions who require the expertise of a veterinary internal medicine specialist, as well as those presenting to GARS’ emergency animal hospital.
